ASPA EHR Facilitation Services
Introducing a valuable EHR service for ASPA members
ASPA is pleased to announce the ASPA EHR Facilitation Service, an exciting new offering that we have created to help our member physicians navigate the complexities of Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementations.
With significant government funding available to help physicians defray the substantial cost of an EHR implementation, now is the time to step toward this new IT-enabled clinical environment. However, it’s important to do so in a way that minimizes risk and maximizes the likelihood of success. While government funding is certainly helpful, it brings with it a commitment to meeting formalized requirements under “Meaningful Use”. Done improperly, physician practices will incur the costs of implementation and not receive the Meaningful Use funds available.
As physicians, we all know that a good, strong, well-implemented EHR system can help improve access to relevant clinical data – ultimately enabling us to make better informed clinical decisions while increasing practice efficiency. We also know that if not implemented properly, the outcome can lead to clinical inefficiencies, clinical and operational issues and worse.
Making the move to an EHR is really a “when” decision, not an “if” decision. With $44,000 available under Medicare and $64,000 available under Medicaid, there has never been a better time. Future pay-for-performance programs, risk programs, managed care programs and other PQRI programs will all be predicated on EHR-based reporting and measures. Over time, these other programs will provide financial incentive far beyond this funding, but only as an EHR user and Meaningful Use participant.
ASPA has created this service to help guide you through the complexities and implementation challenges of meeting the requirements of Meaningful Use. Key elements of this offering include:
- Most effective use of your Meaningful Use Funds
